FORGET high tea - it's all about Thai tea at Brockenhurst's luxury spa hotel Careys Manor this summer.
The hotel is bringing a unique twist to the great British tradition with the launch of its new spa package, which incorporates a true taste of southeast Asia.
Guests will be treated to crisp spring rolls filled with spiced vegetables and glass noodles; classic prawn toast topped with toasted sesame seeds and cucumber relish; and Yam Neua – grilled beef served on papaya with a sweet chilli and tamarind dressing.
Sweets include refreshing pineapple carpaccio with agave syrup, fresh basil and coconut sorbet, and a crisp banana fritter. Those who feel strongly that an afternoon tea of any sort would be incomplete without the staple of scones and the classic tasty toppings will not be disappointed.
"Of course there’s scones, but not as you know them," said a hotel spokesperson. "Here, they’re served with coconut cream, ready to be topped with a thick strawberry jam.
"And after you’re suitably satisfied, make your way into SenSpa, the world class Thai spa that focuses on holistic wellness inspired by ancient Eastern rituals.
"Enjoy two hours of access to the state-of-the-art hydrotherapy facilities for a wholly sensory experience – from the thermal rooms to the experience showers, you’ll enter a state of bliss in no time. To level up your relaxation, indulge in a 30-minute Thai-inspired spa treatment with one of SenSpa’s expert therapists."
Come the evening, guests can head to one of the hotel's two restaurants, one being the Thai-inspired Zen Garden with its menu of exotic and aromatic dishes These include sea bream marinated and baked with Thai herbs and Pandan leaf; roasted duck with red curry sauce, rambutan, lychee, longan, grape and sweet basil, served in a pineapple bowl; massaman lamb shank; and grilled beef sirloin on a bed of pak choi topped with a thick Penang curry sauce, lime leaf, sweet basil and chilli.
Alternatively, pay a visit to modern British brasserie Cambium for seasonal plates showcasing top quality ingredients.
The spa experience also includes a stay in one of the hotel’s luxury bedrooms or suites, each designed with tranquillity in mind.
The traditional Manor Rooms feature four poster beds, whilst the Garden Rooms offer a secluded hideaway complete with a private balcony or patio overlooking the grounds.
And of course before checking out guests can tuck into a delicious New Forest breakfast.
