Edwardsville man faces burglary charges

EDWARDSVILLE – Burglary charges have been filed against an Edwardsville man after a March 4 incident.

Joseph T. Noonan, 28, of Edwardsville, was charged with residential burglary, a Class 1 felony. The case was presented by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department.

According to court documents, on March 4 Noonan allegedly entered an Edwardsville residence to commit theft. Bail was set at $53,000.

In an unrelated case, Charles J. Cunning, 42, of East St. Louis, and Shawn M. Morales, 34, of Granite City, were charged with burglary, a Class 2 felony. The cases were presented by the Granite City Police Department.

According to court documents, on March 3 Cunning allegedly entered a building in Granite City to commit theft. On March 4 Morales allegedly entered the same building to commit theft.

Bail was set at $50,000 for each.

Other felony cases filed March 7 by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office include:

• Nicholaus S. Dorgan, 22, of Collinsville, was charged with possession of burglary tools. The case was presented by the Collinsville Police Department. According to court documents, on March 5 Dorgan allegedly had numerous tools “suitable for use in breaking into a building” with the intent to do so. Bail was set at $25,000.

• James M. Hutch, 54, listed as homeless out of Alton, was charged with offenses relating to motor vehicles, a Class 2 felony, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony. The case was presented by the Metro East Auto Theft Task Force. On March 5 Hutch allegedly had a reported stolen 2003 Ford Taurus and less than 15 grams of clonazeperm. Bail was set at $50,000.

• John L. Hampton, 45, of Bethalto, was charged with offenses relating to motor vehicles, a Class 2 felony. The case was presented by the Bethalto Police Department. On March 5 Hampton allegedly had a reported stolen 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. Bail was set at $50,000.

• Amy J. Cox, 36, of Granite City, was charged with forgery and unlawful possession of methamphetamine, both Class 3 felonies. The case was presented by the Granite City Police Department. On Jan. 17 Cox allegedly tried to pass a bad check for $51.12 at QuikTrip in Granite City and had less than five grams of methamphetamine. Bail was set at $20,000.

• Destiny A. Phillips, 24, of Granite City, was charged with retail theft over $300, a Class 3 felony. The case was presented by the Granite City Police Department. On March 5 Phillips allegedly took clothing, jewelry, glasses and electronic items valued in excess of $300 from the Granite City Walmart. Bail was set at $15,000.

• Paul T. Porter, 43, of St. Charles, Missouri, was charged with retail theft under $300 (second subsequent offense), a Class 4 felony. The case was presented by the Collinsville Police Department. On March 5 Porter allegedly took grocery items, a folding knife, BB pellets, sunglasses and socks valued at less than $300. He has a conviction for possession of burglary tools out of St. Clair County on Feb. 4. Bail was set at $20,000.
