The latest recalls come amid salmonella fears

A hefty number of chicken products sold at major supermarkets and other huge brands are being recalled due to possible salmonella contamination, according to Trading Standards. Aldi, Co-op, M&S, Sainsbury's and Tesco are just among some of the major brands affected by the latest recall.

It comes after Pret A Manager recently removed all of its chicken items on the menu amid fears of salmonella contamination. Affected products include many wraps sandwiches and wraps typically found in the meal deal aisle.

The recall list also contains an updated list of Kinder products which were also removed from supermarket shelves over salmonella concerns, reported WalesOnline. A three-year-old girl from Dorset was left with food poisoning after eating a Kinder egg suspected to be on the list for recall.

When a product is recalled for any reason, the organisation shares details on what shoppers should do if they have bought the item, as well as information on why the product is being removed. Cranswick Country Foods is the major supplier that is stocked by major retailers including Aldi, Sainsbury's, Waitrose, Tesco, M&S and Amazon.

Now, it is recalling its products containing chicken due to potential salmonella contamination. As reported by The Express, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued a risk statement.

"The products listed above may be contaminated with salmonella. Symptoms of salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.

"Action taken by the company Cranswick Country Foods is recalling the above products. Point-of-sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the above products."

Kinder - Surprise/Mini Eggs/Egg Hunt Kit/Schokobons (update)

Several more Kinder products are being recalled because the factory in Belgium where they were manufactured might be contaminated with salmonella. Parent company Ferrero said it is extending its recall of products, after it released a list of items to be removed from shelves. It comes after 76 cases of salmonella in the UK were linked to certain Kinder products made in the factory, with the majority of those affected being children under the age of five.

A notice from the Food Standards Agency reads: "Ferrero is extending its precautionary recall of a selection of European labelled Kinder products manufactured at the Arlon factory in Belgium, which might be contaminated with Salmonella. Investigations have found that some products, intended for the European market only and which have already been recalled by Ferrero in Europe, have been imported into the UK by UK importers not linked to Ferrero. This update does not replace earlier update 2. Both updates are valid."

The notice continues: "Ferrero is recalling the above products. Point of sale notices will be displayed in retail stores that are selling these products. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the products. If you have bought the above products do not eat them. Instead, please take them back to the store where you purchased the products and request a refund."
