Important information from the Food Standards Agency issued over the last week

Major supermarkets and chain cafes have urgently recalled many of its products over safety fears.

Salmonella and undeclared milk are two risks that have prompted the vast and urgent recall of dozens of products including many chicken products in popular chain cafes. Tesco, Waitrose, Costa and Starbucks as well as company Pimlico Confectioners are among the retailers affected, according to the Food Standards Agency.

Many of these sandwiches, wraps and ready meals contain traces of salmonella which can cause fever, diarrhoea, and abdominal cramps. Some contain undeclared ingredients including milk which could cause a health risk to those who are allergic.

While some of these dates may have already passed, it might be worth checking your freezer in case you have one stashed away.

For all product recalls, you can check the Food Standards Agency website which lists all the potentially dangerous items that have been removed.

Cranswick Country Foods are recalling several products containing chicken because salmonella has been found in some of the chicken used to manufacture these products. As a precaution additional products are also being recalled whilst investigations continue.

Many of the products are supplied to leading supermarkets and café chains.

Tesco have been made aware that certain date codes of various Tesco chilled ready to eat chicken products may contain Salmonella:

Waitrose is recalling products as a precautionary measure due to the potential presence of Salmonella, which may cause illness if consumed.

Sainsburys has taken the precautionary measure of recalling some products as they may contain Salmonella. They are asking customers who have purchased the above products not to consume them and to return them to their nearest Sainsbury's store, where they will receive a full refund.
