During the White House briefing on Thursday, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre called out Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for sending migrants to the vice president’s residence in Washington, D.C., and Martha’s Vineyard, describing it as a “cruel, premeditated political stunt.”

- The migrants that are being bused to DC and other cities. There were some that showed up at the VP's residence earlier this morning. Is the administration looking into whether busing migrants around the country is legal?

KARINE JEAN-PIERRE: So let me just say a couple of things about this because and it's come up in the briefing room before, because this has been happening for the past several weeks.

So as we have said repeatedly, there is-- there is a process in place. We have had a process in place. There is a legal way of doing this and for managing migrants. Republican governors interfering in that process and using migrants as political pawns is shameful, is reckless, and just plain wrong.

And remember, these are people who are fleeing communism, who are fleeing hardship. And if these governors truly care about border security, they should ask Texas Governor Ted Cruz and Florida Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott why they voted against the President's request for record, record funding for the Department of Homeland Security.

So this is what they have done. These-- both senators, Senator Marco Rubio, Senator Rick Scott have voted against-- did not vote for-- this funding that would have helped the Department of Homeland Security. That is just a fact.

And also the fact that FOX News-- and not the Department of Homeland Security, the city, or local NGOs-- were alerted about a plan to leave migrants, including children on the side of a busy DC street, makes clear that this is just a cruel, premeditated, political stunt. This is what they are doing.

And a couple of more things. The migrants, including children, who arrived in Martha's Vineyard were misled about where they were being taken and what would be provided when they arrived, is also deeply alarming. The children Governor Abbott abandoned in Martha's Vineyard, the children that Governor DeSantis abandoned as well, you know, deserve better.

They deserve better than being left on the streets of DC or being left in Martha's Vineyard. They deserve a lot better than that. And as we have done many times in response to attempts to create chaos and confusion by Republican governors, we are working to manage the consequences of these two stunts as well.

The White House denounced transports of Latin and South American migrants to Martha’s Vineyard, Mass., and Washington, D.C., by Republican Govs. Ron DeSantis of Florida and Greg Abbott of Texas, while DeSantis’s rival for the governorship called for him to be investigated by the Department of Justice.

After Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis sent planeloads of migrants to Martha's Vineyard on Wednesday, the Biden administration will meet to discuss potential litigation against GOP governors.

Leading progressive Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) slammed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) Thursday for sending two plane loads of Venezuelan migrants to Martha’s Vineyard, the picturesque island off the coast of Massachusetts where U.S. presidents often vacation. Warren took a shot for treating the migrants, who were dropped off on the island without advance…

The Fox News host joked that the migrants should stay at the property owned by Barack and Michelle Obama so they could have a “goat barbecue.”

Planes chartered by Gov. Ron DeSantis picked up migrants from San Antonio, Texas, hundreds of miles away from Florida, the state he governs.

Democrats are accusing Republican governors of cruelly using migrants as political pawns after they chartered buses and flights to send them to places like New York City and Martha’s Vineyard. Migrants on two flights chartered by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) landed at Martha’s Vineyard on Wednesday afternoon, and hours later, dozens of migrants sent by Texas Gov.…

Crist didn't offer his own solutions for immigration reform if he were to be elected governor, saying only, "I'm a humane person."

MARTHA'S VINEYARD, Mass. (Reuters) -Some migrants who were flown to the wealthy island of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, said on Thursday they were duped about their destination, and Democratic leaders called for a probe of the move by Florida's Republican governor to send them there from Texas. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is up for re-election in November and seen as a possible presidential contender in 2024, took credit for the two flights, which originated in San Antonio, Texas, and stopped in Florida on the way to Martha's Vineyard.

The chief executive of Martha's Vineyard Community Services was wrapping up work when she looked outside to see 48 strangers at her office with luggage, backpacks and red folders that included brochures for her organization. The Venezuelan migrants who were flown to the wealthy Massachusetts island from San Antonio on Wednesday by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said they were told they were going to Boston. DeSantis took from the playbook of a fellow Republican, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, by surprising Democratic strongholds with large influxes of migrants.

The Florida governor's anti-immigrant PR stunt was needlessly cruel. It may have also been illegal — especially if reports that migrants were misled are true

Charlie Baker said he is deploying up to 125 National Guard members in response to DeSantis sending a group of just 50 illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard.

The roughly 50 migrants, including about half a dozen children, boarded buses to head to the ferry to Cape Cod, leaving some of the island residents who volunteered to shelter them in a church for two nights in tears. Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker, a Republican, said the migrants would be housed temporarily at a Cape Cod military base, organized by state emergency officials.

When about 50 migrants unexpectedly flew into Martha’s Vineyard on Wednesday, organizers mobilized around the same goal: how best to help their visitors.

A group of immigrants landed on the wealthy Massachusetts island of Martha's Vineyard on Wednesday, part of a campaign by Republican governors to shift the immigration burden to Democratic areas. Florida governor Ron DeSantis took credit for the arrival of two planes of immigrants, one spokeswoman told Fox News and a second said on Twitter, though a Massachusetts state representative said immigrants had arrived from Texas. "Yes, Florida can confirm the two planes with illegal immigrants that arrived in Martha's Vineyard today were part of the state's relocation program to transport illegal immigrants to sanctuary destinations," Taryn Fenske, communications director for Governor Ron DeSantis, told Fox News Digital.

The Biden White House on Thursday condemned Republican governors who this week escalated their strategy of busing -- and now flying -- migrants to Democratic cities in protest of the administration's border policies. Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis sent two planes of migrants to Martha's Vineyard late Wednesday evening, surprising state and local officials. Roughly 100 migrants aboard two buses sent by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott were dropped off in front of Vice President Kamala Harris' Naval Observatory residence early Thursday morning.

The Florida governor's ploy reeks of exploitation, with victims that were the least equipped to resist.
